We always have a friend in Quorum Cyber

Continuing our series of guest posts from our corporate partners, we’re delighted to feature Quorum Cyber. Managing Director, Federico Charosky outlines the very special relationship between our two organisations and why reaching every child and family in Scotland that needs us is so crucial.

There are many charitable organisations in Scotland, each one of them campaign selflessly, on a daily basis, for the betterment of whatever section of our society they represent. For some, these charities represent the most vulnerable people in our society, giving a voice to those who so often go un-heard, un-seen.

For Quorum Cyber, there is one particular charity that stands above the rest, and that is CHAS. The only word we can think of that even comes close to describing the work that they do is amazing. The thing that impresses us so much is not in the “what” they do, but more importantly, the “why” and “how” they do it.

The work CHAS does for families all over the country takes what is an unimaginable reality for so many – something which simply cannot be changed – and attempts to counteract it with the creation of happy and lasting memories. Where most people would have understandably focused on the pain and sorrow of the situation, CHAS chose to focus making memories and keeping the joy alive.

The idea that positive emotion is a true driver for change is something that resonates strongly with Quorum Cyber, and we believe the world needs more of this, now more than ever. 2020 has been probably the worst year on record with regards to – among a multitude of other things – fundraising and charitable donations. The global pandemic has caused charities all over the globe to cease any and all large-scale fundraising events as the world attempts to deal with the fallout of COVID-19.

However, this does not mean that the problems charities are trying to solve have magically disappeared. The only difference is the rest of the world isn’t watching as closely as they were last year. Charities have been forced to think outside of the box if they want to be able to reach the people that need them most.

That’s why Quorum Cyber was delighted to participate in the Run 100 Raise 100 in support of CHAS. This innovative virtual fundraising appeal took place throughout September and challenged people all over Scotland to walk 100Km for CHAS and raise £100 in the process. We are happy to report a stellar performance from the Quorum Cyber team, contributing over £1700 at a time when we know every penny counts. Another factor which really stands as a testament to the fact that CHAS and Quorum Cyber are a match made in heaven is our core values. We mean this not just in “title” but, more specifically, it is how we both embody these values on a daily basis.

If ever there was a time when we needed organisations – of every size and from all industries – to think long and hard about whether they could “do more” to support charities like CHAS, now is that time. We know that right now might not be the best time for you or your organisation to get involved financially, however, there are so many other ways you can show your support! Simply by reaching out and letting the charity know that they are not alone, or by promoting and sharing content with your own networks, you are helping to raise awareness – and vital funds – that are so desperately needed to help keep CHAS’ never-ending mission going.

A lot of organisations may think, “but we are not big enough to support CHAS” and to that we say, there is simply no gesture “too small” when it concerns supporting CHAS in their mission to help keep the joy alive for young children and their families. One of the ‘selfish’ benefits of supporting CHAS is the simple fact that you are actively helping to make the world a better place – and make no mistake, that is exactly what CHAS do every single day.

The charity provides incredible experiences for everyone involved, making lasting memories and focusing on joy over grief. And at Quorum Cyber, we are simply over the moon that we can, in our own small way, help CHAS to reach more people, create more memories, and make even more of a difference to the world around us.

I am so proud of the special relationship Quorum Cyber has with CHAS. The work CHAS do is an unthinkable reality for so many people and it serves to remind us all that there are larger problems all around us and people out there who need a helping hand. CHAS truly do make the world a better place and if we can help with this - even a little - then we are more than happy to do so. Thank you, CHAS, for all that you do, and you will always have a friend in Quorum Cyber.
