Siobhan MacLennan's year of challenges for CHAS

Siobhan MacLennan is making incredible progress through a year of challenges for CHAS that she has set herself, and has just completed her first ever marathon!

"I occasionally do 10k runs and have even stretched to a half marathon but have never done them to raise money. However, after this year's CHAS Ladies Lunch, hearing the stories from the CHAS parents and seeing the incredible work of CHAS, I decided to do a series of events over the year to raise money for this extraordinary cause. The plan was for one race/event per month, from a 5k to my very first marathon, with the hope of finishing with the Kiltwalk Glasgow in 2019."

So far, superstar Siobhan has completed the Paisley 10k, Kilmacolm Half Marathon and completed the Loch Ness Marathon - her first ever 26-mile event! Following the marathon, Siobhan said "That was a tough day! If I'm honest, the first half was a real mental struggle and the second half became a physical struggle. Panic attack at 17 miles set me back a bit then my calves gave way at around 21 miles. But I finished! Onwards and upwards!"

Outdoor events coordinator, Scott Maxwell, Said, "We really appreciate your incredible efforts Siobhan and when the going gets tough, just remember the huge difference you will make and the special memories you will help CHAS to create. Every step you take helps us in our mission to reach every family in Scotland who needs us. Thank you, congratulations and good luck with the training for the next set of challenges."

Siobhan's next events include the Speyside Dramathon, the Supernova Kelpies in Falkirk, a Santa Dash and more to be announced in the new year. Siobhan is so close to hitting her target of £1,000 for CHAS, if you would like to contribute you can visit her page and also keep up to date with her progress: https://www.justgiving.com/Siobhan-Maclennan.
