Your Afternoon Tea questions answered
What is Afternoon Tea for CHAS?
This October, we’re inviting you to host an Afternoon Tea to raise funds for children with life-shortening conditions and their families.
Gather your friends, family, and community to share a cup of tea, a slice of cake, or any snack you fancy. Go traditional with scones and sandwiches, or shake things up with cocktails and games.
You can host your Afternoon Tea however suits you. Sign up today and turn a simple cuppa into something truly life changing.
Why?
Every week in Scotland, three children die of a life-shortening condition. Three families’ worlds fall apart.
CHAS are there to ensure that children and families have access to care at home, in hospital, or in hospice. We provide care that ensures dignity, comfort, and choice. We are there for families at every stage of their journey to ensure that no one has to face the death of their child alone.
All funds raised through Afternoon Tea for CHAS will support our More Than a Hospice Appeal – bringing essential upgrades to our hospices and transforming the way we provide palliative care to children in hospitals and homes around the country.

How do I raise money at my Afternoon Tea?
Suggested Donation
We recommend setting a suggested donation for guests attending your Afternoon Tea. Inviting guests to donate directly to your JustGiving page will help to keep all your fundraising in one place.
You can also collect cash donations in the money box provided in your free fundraising pack.
Fundraising at the event
There are plenty of ways you can raise additional funds for CHAS at your Afternoon Tea. Here are a few ideas:
Hold a raffle and ask local businesses to donate prizes – CHAS can provide authorisation letters to use when sourcing prizes.
Hold some pay-to-play games – ‘Guess the Weight of the Cake’, an Afternoon-Tea themed quiz, or a Bake-Off competition.
Hold a Cake Auction – choose 3-5 standout cakes and auction them off to your guests.
‘Donate what you can’ - if you have any leftover bakes after your event, bag them up and let guests take extras home for a small donation.
How do I pay in the money I raise?
Share your Just Giving page with your community and encourage your guests to donate directly onto your page.
If you collect cash donations on the day, we recommend you bank these yourself and donate online to your JustGiving page.
