Doctors Make Music for a Good Cause

On September 27 at 5pm in Glasgow, the European Doctors Orchestra will come to Scotland for only the second time since its inauguration.

Glasgow, the UNESCO city of music, will host the eighty strong orchestra, made up of doctors from twelve different countries across Europe.

Orchestral players who are practising or retired doctors will perform a programme of music based on the theme of Friendship. They will explore the friendship between Brahms and Dvorak through their music, whilst renewing old and making new friendships with fellow musicians and audiences.

As well as Dvorak’s sunny Slavonic Dances and his dramatic Seventh Symphony, the players will perform Brahms’ beautiful Double concerto for violin and cello.

The Orchestra was founded in 2004 by Australian/Hungarian plastic surgeon Miklos Pohl and has performed across Europe raising money for healthcare related charities.

The Glasgow concert will be in aid of CHAS with all proceeds going to the Charity. The partnership with CHAS has dual significance: helping CHAS to support families and supporting close medical collaboration to improve palliative care services for children and young people.
