Join us on 15-23 May 2027 on a majestic 5 day trekking adventure exclusively for CHAS, covering approximately 50km to conquer the twists, turns, steps and slopes of this formidable fortification - the famous Great Wall of China.
This once in a lifetime adventure takes you to a remote section of the Great Wall of China, from Gubeikou to Jinshanling and Simatai. Not only will you trek on the wall itself, but you will also have the opportunity to trek through wild and remote landscapes with distant views of green rolling hills and mountain peaks - and with one of the great wonders of the world as a backdrop. You'll also be provided guided visits to the Forbidden City and Tiananmen Square before journeying home from Beijing.
Staying in guesthouses throughout the trek allows you to gain an understanding of authentic Chinese culture, as you discover more about the lifestyle of the local people and sample incredible local cuisine. You'll be accompanied by knowledgeable English-speaking guides and supported throughout your trek by a team of cooks, drivers, first-aiders and tour managers, as well as a member of the team at CHAS.
The trek is rated Moderate to Challenging due to the hilly, mixed terrain including steps, hillside, countryside, rubble and paved ground. You must also be prepared to carry a day back weighing 6-7kg throughout the trek.

Cost:
There are two different payment options for the trek, either:
Option A - Minimum Sponsorship - Pay a non-refundable registration fee of £395 and agree to raise a minimum of £4,430 for CHAS. At least 80% of the minimum sponsorship is required by CHAS no later than 12 weeks ahead of the challenge.
Option B - Self-Funding - Pay a non-refundable registration fee of £395, plus £2,600* in trek costs paid to Different Travel no later than 10 weeks prior to departure. With this option you are also asked to fundraise a minimum of £1,830 for CHAS. 80% (£1,464) is due by 19 February 2027 with the remaining £366 due by the date of departure. Please note that fundraising cannot be used for your trip costs if self-funding your trip.
*Please note trip costs are based on the final group size and are subject to change. This is the most you will be required to pay.
