Nigel is a retired investment manager with a 30-year career specialising in equity markets for institutional clients

Bringing a wealth of experience to the table, Nigel possesses a keen ability to engage with and oversee CHAS's two investment managers responsible for managing the organisation's charitable assets.

Nigel retired in 2015 after a distinguished 30-year career as an investment manager, with the majority of his professional tenure spent at BlackRock Inc. His specialisation revolved around the strategic investment of equity markets, primarily catering to large institutions such as public pension funds and sovereign wealth funds.

Nigel is married with three grown children, living in Edinburgh with his wife, Annette. He maintains a range of personal interests, including cycling, golfing ("keen but poor"), and sailing.

Nigel continues to take a keen interest in financial markets, staying well-informed about industry developments, and maintaining an ongoing connection with his former profession.

The dedication and professionalism of all the staff and volunteers I have come into contact with at CHAS has so impressed me. A recent visit to Rachel House reaffirmed this to me. In providing an environment of such care and respect for young terminally ill people and their parents, speaks volumes of the worthiness of CHAS.

Nigel Barry,
