Congratulations to CHAS Supporters in New Year's Honours List
We are delighted to congratulate Alan Craig, awarded an MBE for fundraising services to fundraising for CHAS, and Dr Deirdre McCormick, honoured with an MBE for services to public protection.
Alan has been an extraordinary champion for CHAS. As leader of the Springfield Cambridge Festival Chorus and Orchestra, he has brought together scores of musicians and singers — including many from Bishopbriggs Churches Together — who freely give their time each year. Their annual Christmas concert at the Royal Concert Hall in Glasgow has raised over £500,000 for CHAS over more than a decade, inspiring communities across Scotland through the power of music.

Dr Deirdre McCormick, Chief Nurse and Head of NHSGGC’s Public Protection Service, receives her honour for 44 years of dedicated NHS service. A nurse, midwife and health visitor, she has led vital work to safeguard unborn babies, children, young people and adults at risk of harm. As a CHAS trustee, she brings deep expertise and compassion to our mission.
From our CEO
“This honour is so well deserved. Alan’s dedication and energy have inspired people across Scotland to support CHAS. We are incredibly proud to have champions like Alan standing with us so we can continue providing unwavering care to children who may die young and their families at every step on this hardest of journeys. No-one should face the death of their child alone, and Alan’s energy helps make sure that is the case.”
— Rami Okasha, CEO, CHAS
