Retail Webshop Support Volunteer

The aim of this role is to support the CHAS Retail Team to generate as much money as possible for CHAS.

CHAS Retail have established a web shop and an eBay page to generate increased revenue through the sale of new and donated goods. Funds raised enable us to support children with a life-shortening conditions across Scotland.

What activities will I be involved in? 

  • Photographing items
  • Researching selected stock for online offering, to gather as much information on the items before listing them online
  • Representing CHAS and promoting a robust accountability for items listed
  • Involved in uploading the information about goods for sale onto the eBay site
  • Involved in packing and posting of the sold items
  • Processing the sale if eBay or web shop items through the till
  • Tracking and monitoring items for sale
  • Be able to handle any online queries from customer
  • Attending any training that will help you with your role

What skills and abilities will I need to have? 

  • Office experience
  • Good attention to detail
  • Strong IT Skills
  • Willingness to work as part of a team
  • Friendly and outgoing
  • Shared values with the organisation: respect, care, honesty, accountability

 How much time should I offer?

 We are looking for someone who is able to commit one half day per week, consisting of a 4 hour shift. The time commitment can be flexible so please contact us if you have any particular requirements.

What are the benefits to the children and families supported by CHAS?

Supporting the CHAS Retail Team helps CHAS to raise as much money as possible for children with a life-shortening condition. In addition to this, Retail Support volunteers are often the first point of contact for customers and supporters, so a friendly, warm response at the end of the phone or in person can help to make a big difference to their impression and overall experience of CHAS.

What ongoing learning/support/guidance will I receive? 

It’s important to us that you feel happy, safe and confident in your role. As a CHAS volunteer you will be invited to complete a short core learning package that is tailored to your role.  

We are always developing new opportunities for volunteers to learn and offer a range of options for volunteers. 

What else should I know? 

We will pay your out of pocket expenses in line with the CHAS volunteer expenses policy.
