Thinking of your New Year’s resolutions? Think of CHAS!

The CHAS 2018/19 challenge events calendar is up and running! From the sandy beaches of Loch Lomond to the sand dunes of the Sahara – there’s a CHAS challenge for everyone.

It’s not long now until we say farewell to this year and begin the 2018 countdown. You may have already started to think of your New Year resolutions. Whether you want to take on a bigger challenge, improve your fitness, or do something good for charity, CHAS can help. We’re excited about our 2018/19 calendar as there's something for all ages and abilities, so why not take part for CHAS? Help us to reach every family in Scotland who needs our vital hospice support as they face a difficult journey of their own.

The Loch Lomond Hike and Bike on 26 May is a new addition to the CHAS calendar of events. This duathlon can be completed as an individual or as a team of two. Run/walk 7.5 miles along parts of the West Highland Way before taking on a 34 mile cycle back to Rowardennan, taking in some of the best scenery Scotland has to offer.

The Edinburgh Marathon Festival returns on 27 May with various distances including full and half marathons or the Hairy Haggis - a team of four relay. This year we have reduced entry fees and will once again have a runner’s reception in the charity village at the finish line.

The Supernova Kelpies is an enchanting 5k night time run around one of Scotland’s most iconic venues. This brilliantly organised run of light, sound and colour is fun for the whole family, so get ready, steady, and GLOW for CHAS at one of the three evenings in November.

We are delighted to be one of the four charities chosen by The Edinburgh Students’ Charity Appeal to benefit from the Meadows Marathon on Sunday 4 March. Take advantage of the early bird entry by end of December.

Bubble Rush returns to Bellahouston Park, Glasgow on 6 May 2018. Keep an eye on our social media and events page on our website over the coming weeks for more details on this colourful 5k.

The Kiltwalk events are one of the most enjoyable, mass participation challenges of the year. With four locations across Scotland, each with three distances to choose from, there is something for everyone, and we guarantee, crossing a Kiltwalk finish line is one of the most amazing experiences ever!

You can register now for any of these walks. However, if you want a real challenge, why not consider taking on all four for CHAS! For more information on this contact scottmaxwell@chas.org.uk

Back by popular demand, we have secured a limited number of places for a fabulously thrilling challenge over Glasgow’s iconic river. Zip slide across the Clyde just like our Chief Exec, Maria McGill, did in 2017. Sign up for 7 April or 16 June.

Or take on the ultimate adrenaline challenge and free fall abseil from the iconic Forth Rail Bridge on the 1 July. Organised by the Rotary Club of South Queensferry with permission from Network Rail, this annual event always sells out quickly so make sure you are ready to sign up when registrations open on the 1 January via our website.

We’re delighted to announce that we have secured a limited number of places in the incredible Great Scottish Swim in August 2018. Completing this 1 mile open water swim across Loch Lomond is an achievement you will never forget.

Our 2019 Challenge: Sahara Desert Trek, Morocco, 31 October - 5 November 2019

Your charity challenge is to trek for four days through the ever-changing landscape of the largest desert in the world and to climb to the top of the massive Chegaga Dunes, where you will witness a breath taking desert sun-rise. The days will be hot and the trekking will be tough, but with the incredible support of the team and local experts you will conquer this mammoth adventure. Vistas as far as the eye can see combined with the pleasure of having the volcanic Anti-Atlas Mountains as your backdrop – what are you waiting for!?

With traditional Berbers as your guides you’ll experience the delights of Morocco first hand, in addition to being mesmerised by the remoteness and solitude that the Sahara brings. If you want to take part in one of the most fantastic charity events but have limited time to take away from the UK, this most unique trek challenge is for you.

More challenges and events to be announced so please keep your eye on the events pages of the website or contact Scott on scottmaxwell@chas.org.uk or on 0141 779 6184.
