Do you have what it takes to be our next Director for People and Strategy?

We are currently recruiting for a Director for People and Strategy to join the senior leadership team and play a key role in strengthening the future direction and work of CHAS.

For nearly thirty years Children’s Hospices Across Scotland (CHAS) has been offering a full family support service for babies, children and young people with a life-shortening condition. This includes palliative care, family respite and support – through our hospices, homecare services and hospital presence. CHAS make things possible so children have the freedom to be themselves, play outside, laugh, sparkle, smile, and have treasured moments of joy. Our ambition is that every family in Scotland who is living with the heart-breaking knowledge that their child is dying, will be supported, cared for and helped to make the most of that precious time.

We recognise that the scale of need for our services across Scotland is immense, and we now seek a Director for People and Strategy to join the senior leadership team and play a key role in strengthening the future direction and work of CHAS. This is a substantive leadership role within the charity, reporting to the Chief Executive. This is a new role, and we seek individuals who will help CHAS think differently about how CHAS engages with the staff and volunteers in planning its services.

The successful candidate will work closely with the Board and Chief Executive in defining this work, responsible for four key functional areas: HR, Learning and Development, Volunteering and Business Planning, which includes all strategic and transformation work. The successful candidate will bring strong working knowledge of either the charity, healthcare, or business sectors. They will bring an innovative and strategic mindset and the ability to lead the growing people function and contribute at the highest level to CHAS’ strategic plan and direction. They will also bring excellent people skills with a dynamic and engaging approach. Most importantly they will bring the personal compassion and warmth to engage with our most important stakeholder group, the families we support.

Saxton Bampfylde Ltd is acting as an employment agency advisor to CHAS on this appointment. For further information about the role, including job appointment brief and details on about how to apply, please visit https://www.saxbam.com/appointment/chas/ using reference CAJOE. Applications should be received by noon on 31 January 2022.
