CHAS supporting Bill to evaluate impact of Brexit on health and social care sectors.

CHAS has added our support to a Private Members' Bill in the name of Brendan O'Hara MP. The Bill, if passed by the House of Commons, would require an independent evaluation of the impact of the European Union (Withdrawal) Act 2018, and of Brexit, upon the health and social care sectors across the UK.

CHAS has joined dozens of organisations, including the ALLIANCE, SCVO, the Queen's Nursing Institute and Scottish Care, who have already added their support to the call for an impact assessment. Third sector organisations have long noted concerns that changes in rules related to the EU workforce, medicines research and funding would have an impact in the lives of people living with long-term conditions, disabled people and unpaid carers.

We believe an impact assessment is necessary to ensure the continued safe running of health and social care systems across the four nations of the UK.

A second reading debate of the Bill will take place 25 January 2019.
