Celebrating anniversaries: a blog from Kay Ryan of Loganair

As we mark 30 years of CHAS, our partner Loganair has been celebrating its 60th anniversary. Now, Chief Commercial Officer at Loganair, Kay Ryan looks to what the future holds and how Scotland’s airline will be supporting CHAS in the year ahead.

In October last year, we announced CHAS as our new charity partner and set out plans to provide children and staff nurses with flights, offering vital respite to families across the country.

At the same time, we were planning for our 60th birthday celebrations and you can imagine our surprise when we discovered that CHAS was also celebrating a milestone birthday in February 2022, marking 30 years since inception. Throughout this month we have been reflecting back on our history over the last 60 years and as we’ve learned more about the last 30 years of CHAS, we were truly humbled by the ongoing commitment and support provided to families across Scotland. It’s important to us that we support that mission.

Throughout this year, we will be supporting families across the country through fundraising and providing complimentary flights to enable vital at-home support and respite. Last year we supported CHAS at Home nurses to visit two families in Orkney – enabling them to deliver essential care in the comfort of the children’s own homes. We witnessed first-hand the difference that CHAS can make and we are very much looking forward to helping connect more families in the months to come.

In spring, we will be heading to Robin House to volunteer in the beautiful gardens. Our CEO, Jonathan Hinkles, is very excited at the prospect of combining his love of gardening with supporting such a worthy cause and we’re very much looking forward to the day. Plans are also underway for an exclusive flight experience for CHAS families in April, taking to the skies for a special Easter treat.

We are in the business of keeping people connected and bringing loved ones together and through our partnership with CHAS, we are able to help do just that for vulnerable families in the most remote areas of Scotland and help ensure that no family has to face the death of their child alone.

We are very much looking forward to celebrating 30 years of CHAS and 60 years of Loganair throughout 2022, as we reach new highs and connect as many loved ones as possible across the country.
