Teachers at Strathaven Academy enjoyed a quiet afternoon on Tuesday 10 February, when S1 pupils spent time in silence – reading a book!  Their aim was to raise funds and support CHAS, by taking part in “Rachel and Robin’s Big Read”.

Pupils rose to the challenge and raised the incredible sum of £1,479.60.

Euan Clark, S1 pupil described taking part “Everyone enjoyed it – it was fun to spend time reading a book we wanted instead of doing school work.  I read “Titanic”, which was a book I got at Christmas.  This was a great way to spend our afternoon and it was for a good cause”
