Robin House
Robin House opened in 2005. The hospice is purpose built and provides ongoing support for up to 200 families from across Scotland each year. At any one time, it can accommodate eight children and their families.
Around 1200 families in Scotland have a child or children who suffer from a progressive, life-limiting condition. Most are unlikely to live to adulthood.
When it is known that life is short, two things become very important to the family; the quality of life and the enjoyment of the time that is left. Caring for a seriously ill child puts an immense physical and emotional strain on the whole family. The demands of caring for a sick child absorb the very time and energy that is needed to enjoy life.
Robin House is a home from home offering a place where families can relax, recharge their batteries and have fun with their children. Expert care is on hand to help them make the most of each day and live life to the full.
In addition to providing services to younger children, Robin House has a specialist teenage unit - teenagers' needs are very different to those of younger children. Likewise, they do not fit in to the adult hospice scene that focuses primarily on oncology conditions, so CHAS has consulted with the teenagers who use our services to create a facility that will readily meet their needs.
Robin House is not a sad place, it is a place for living. It provides an opportunity to share concerns and worries with people who understand. It is a place of fun and laughter, enjoyment, love and support.

It's just so good to take the strain off the family and place her in the care of nurses who are as concerned as we are.
