A VERY SPECIAL BIRTHDAY

Instead of your usual birthday party, Ciara Ennis from Aberdeenshire decided to celebrate in style and organised a ‘Busking Birthday Party' in support of CHAS.

Ciara turned 10 in 2007 and she and her friends took to the streets of Huntly to raise money for CHAS through all manner of performances including singing, dancing, reciting, fiddle playing and joke telling!  And they must have made a huge impact on the local people as the talented youngsters raised an incredible £1641.08!

When asked why she wanted to celebrate her birthday in this unique way Ciara answered:

‘This year I wanted to have a different birthday!  I wanted to help children who may not see their next birthday.    The only way I could think of raising some money was to busk on the street and ask my friends to help me. I am lucky that my friends are all talented and wanted to join in. All of my friends either sing or dance, or were willing to collect money or tell a joke or poem.'

She went on to say:

‘Thank you for all your help and support in helping me raise some money.'

Everyone at CHAS is very grateful to Ciara and her friends and would like to say a very big ‘Thank You' to them all for all their hard work and enthusiasm - it certainly was a birthday that won't be forgotten quickly!

Janet Cowe from CHAS met Ciara recently at her dance class to present her with a certificate and to receive the money raised.
