AWARD WINNING STIRLING FRIENDS OF CHAS

The Institute of Fundraising Scotland has recognised local fundraising group, Stirling Friends of CHAS, for their inspirational fundraising achievement ‘Stirling's Rocking Horse Ball'.

Stirling Friends of CHAS held this annual event on 26 May 2007 at the Albert Hall in Stirling. The theme was ‘Tiaras & Tuxes'. This year the ball raised a phenomenal £41,686.29, the most successful year to date. In recognition of this great success, Children's Hospice Association Scotland (CHAS) nominated the group for an award at the 2007 Institute of Fundraising conference in Glasgow.

Local fundraiser, Rachel Cheer, said "I am extremely pleased that this motivated and imaginative group has received a ‘Highly Commended' certificate in the ‘Campaign or Event Award' category."

Stirling Friends of CHAS was set up in the 1990s and is run by a group of dedicated volunteers who work together to support CHAS locally, both by fundraising and awareness raising.

If you would like to know more about the work of CHAS please contact Rachel Cheer on 01577 865222.

CHAS provides hospices services in Scotland for children with life-limiting conditions and their families. CHAS runs Robin House children's hospice at Balloch near Loch Lomond, Rachel House children's hospice in Kinross and the Rachel House at Home service which provides an at home service for families in the Highlands. Although these services are available to families free of charge, it costs CHAS over £5 million each year to provide these vital services.
