Scottish stars from the racing world including four time Indycar Champion Dario Franchitti and Formula One’s Paul Di Resta helped raise £3,855 for CHAS at the Scottish Motor Racing Club (SMRC) annual dinner and prize giving on Saturday 3 December 2011.

The event, at Edinburgh’s Balmoral Hotel, was organised by Scottish Mini Cooper Championship racing driver Kenny McLeod. The £3,855 donation was raised through a prize draw, organised by Grand Prix Adventures, with the following prizes:

  • Third prize - a pair of Dario Franchitti signed race boots;
  • Second prize - a signed Paul Di Resta visor
  • First prize - a tour of the McLaren factory and a meet and greet with Jenson Button.

 With Saturday’s donation, Kenny McLeod has helped raise £5,694 for CHAS in total which has included over £1,634 raised by a competition during the Scottish Mini Cooper Championship which had a star prize of a trip to the 2012 Monaco Grand Prix.

Jon Heggie, CHAS Regional Fundraising Manager said, “A huge thank you to Kenny and the Scottish Motor Racing Club for their support. It was a fantastic night and we’re thrilled that CHAS was chosen as the beneficiary of this special event.”

Kenny McLeod: “I’m really thrilled that our motor-racing community, and the SMRC have gotten behind CHAS, I’ve got everyone revved up for even more prizes and fun for the 2012 season.”
