Hospice Volunteers

Volunteering in a children’s hospice is a hugely rewarding experience. You need to enjoy being in the company of children and young people and be patient, empathic, tactful and understanding. Rachel House Children’s Hospice, Kinross

Kitchen Volunteer

Would you like to be part of our busy kitchen team at the heart of the hospice to assist the cooks in the preparation of meals? Duties include food prep, setting the lunch table, serving food to families, loading/unloading the dishwasher and tidying up after lunch. There is also the opportunity to gain a food hygiene certificate. Hours are Friday's 9.30am-2pm. Contact either Caroline Marshall or Cherry Allan. Alternatively call 01577 865777.

Kitchen team home bakers

Are you a whiz in the kitchen with traybakes? We’re looking for volunteers to assist our cooks with a variety of home baking for our visiting families to enjoy. This role includes the opportunity to gain a Food Hygiene Certificate. Hours are Tuesdays or Thursdays between 2pm - 4pm. Contact either Caroline Marshall by email or Cherry Allan by email. Robin House Children’s Hospice, Balloch on Loch Lomond  

Kitchen volunteer

Be part of our busy kitchen team at the heart of the hospice. You will assist the cooks in the preparation of meals. Duties including loading the dishwasher, setting the lunch table and serving meals to families. There is also the opportunity to undergo food hygiene training. Housekeeping volunteer

If you fancy being the Kim and Aggie of Robin House we need you! Duties will include assisting the team with laundry, vacuuming and dusting and creating a homely environment for our families. We need help in the evenings. Contact Nicola Porciani or Lynne Thomson on 01389 722055.

CHAS at Home, Inverness and Aberdeen

As well as staff based in our two hospices we also have a CHAS at Home team based in offices in Inverness and Aberdeen which provide support to families in their own homes across Scotland.

There are currently no vacancies with the CHAS at Home teams.

Retail

Charity Retail, Kinross

Would you like to be part of our friendly retail team? Could you spare a few hours a week?

We have two second-hand goods shops, a gifts shop selling new and branded items, an ebay site and online shop as well as warehousing, all based in Kinross. We are looking for volunteers across all of our sites and we can offer a diverse range of interesting opportunities including:

  • Customer service, cash handling, merchandising, pricing and selling in our shops
  • Sorting and preparing stock in our store room
  • Carrying out research, inputting data and listing items for our online sites

Charity Retail, East Kilbride

Do you have an eye for a bargain? Could you help us identify high quality donated items?

We have an exciting opportunity for volunteers to join a brand-new team in East Kilbride. Social business Clothes Aid collects clothes door-to-door across the country, to raise money for a range of UK charities including CHAS. This role would involve sorting and preparing stock from donated items held in the Clothes Aid warehouse in East Kilbride to be sold in our charity shops.

Office volunteer

Are you computer literate and able to spare a few hours a week? We need volunteers to help with computer based duties eg typing, loading data onto our database, processing incoming and outgoing mail, photocopying and scanning when required.  Day/hours are flexible (office opening hours are Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm). Speaker

We need a speaker to help spread the word about CHAS in the Falkirk District. You will be an ambassador for CHAS, giving talks to groups and organisations. CHAS will provide you with all necessary guidance and training required and speakers are required to attend an annual training day. Days/hours are flexible and can be tailored to suit you.
