Why recycle with CHAS?

Why it’s good for you

We’ve all got items in the back of our wardrobes that never get worn so why not donate those items to free up more space.Photo by Sean Bell

Why it’s good for us

Your donation will help support children and young people across Scotland.

Thanks to your support we’ve raised an incredible amount from donated goods including over £230,000 from our door-step clothing collection company Clothes Aid since our partnership began in February 2009.

We make the most of your donation to maximise its value. Any items that we are not able to sell in our shops we may be able to sell to companies who may recycle them at home and overseas where they will either be worn again, reused, or go for industrial reuse. We can also sell items through a weekly auction sale at Castleblair Auctions in Dunfermline. New products which have not sold through our gift shop, online shop or eBay may also be sold through our online shop or eBay.

Why it’s good for the environment

Recycling with us minimises the amount of items which end up in landfill. According to the Scottish Environment Protection Agency the fashion hungry Scottish public bin over 2,000 tonnes of textiles each year which end up in landfill. This is the equivalent of over 400,000 black bags of textiles.
