Fundraising Volunteers

There are many opportunities to become a fundraising volunteer. Some of these interesting roles are explained below but please feel free to contact your local fundraising office for further information.

Volunteer Speaker

CHAS has an extensive network of volunteer speakers who are trained to raise the profile (and consequently funds) in their local area. Last year speakers attended over 650 talks and cheque collections at a variety of groups, including church guilds, Rotary Clubs, SWRIs and many more.

Collecting Can Co-ordinator

Can co-ordinators raise the profile of CHAS, as well as funds, by sourcing new sites in their local area in which to place a collecting can (e.g. local post office, garage, pub, hotel). This volunteer role is flexible, local and does not involve public speaking (the role of the public speaker does not appeal to everyone!), and is of great value to CHAS.

Friends Group

Why don't you and your friends get together and form yourselves into a Friends of CHAS Group? Friends of CHAS Groups act as a focus within their local community for awareness raising and fundraising. Some Friends Groups think up innovative ways to raise money whilst others ‘piggy back' onto existing local events - for example one of our Friends Groups asked a local choir if they could sell CHAS Christmas cards at their concert.

Office Volunteer

CHAS has four fundraising offices and a team of skilled volunteers help with typing thank you letters, assisting with mail, counting money and a range of other office duties. We ask that office volunteers have up-to-date office skills and can make a regular commitment.

General Fundraising Volunteers

If you can't make a regular commitment to CHAS but still want to help out, then this is the role for you. Throughout the year CHAS has a number of can shakes, bucket shakes, stalls, fetes, fairs and other events which require a lot of helpers.

As a registered CHAS volunteer you benefit from an induction, training, regular updates and the opportunity to attend our annual Volunteer Conference. You will also receive all the materials and help required for your specific role.

Our fundraising team will be delighted to speak to you regarding any of these roles, so don't hesitate to get in touch!
