CHAS at Home officially opened at new premises in Inverness today. The new location at 9 Ardross Terrace is an expansion for the CHAS at Home team and to mark the day, staff were joined by the Graham family who currently use the service.
Previously based in a single room at the Highland Hospice, the new five-room premises includes an office space, storage areas and a formal meeting room.
CHAS at Home provides a free home care service to families who have children with a life-limiting condition and currently supports 39 families across Scotland, 13 of which are from Inverness and the surrounding area. The team has three staff in Inverness and two nurses based out of the CHAS hospices, Robin House in Balloch and Rachel House in Kinross. Future plans for two more nurses at each of the hospices are also in the pipeline.
Babs Henderson, Director of CHAS at Home said: “The CHAS at Home service is a vital lifeline to families referred to CHAS. The support is for both families who feel isolated due to their child’s condition and those that need additional support. We are delighted to be expanding the CHAS at Home service so that we can reach out to more families each year. We are able to provide tailor-made care, complementing other care services the families receive, including emotional and bereavement support, to families in their own homes, when they need us most.”
